Common Problems in The Sims 4: Loading, Saving and Crashing

Hello, I want to share some important information about The Sims 4 problems. I have played this game for many hours, and I know these problems are very troublesome. I will tell you about three main problems: loading problems, saving problems, and crashing problems.

Part 1: Loading Problems

Basic Loading Problems

#

1. Game Cannot Start

   • Main reason: old mods or broken CC files
   • Other reasons: wrong files in mods folder
   • Also possible: GShade program not working correctly

2. Game Loads Very Slowly

   • Big problem: too many mod files in folder
   • Solution 1: turn off mods list display in Options menu
   • Solution 2: delete some CC files you do not need

3. Game Only Works in DX9 Mode

   • Usually because of old Build/Buy items
   • Example: items made by simsi45
   • Solution: use Sims 4 Studio to fix many files at one time

World Loading Problems

1. Cannot Load Special Worlds

   • Problem worlds: For Rent, Horse Ranch, Cottage Living
   • Usually because T.O.O.L Mod is old
   • Also check if Better BuildBuy (by TwistedMexi) is old

2. Cannot See World Map

   • This is a serious problem
   • Please check your mods folder

House and Family Loading Problems

Important Note: These problems can make your house file broken forever. Please be careful.

Common Problems:

1. Old mods make problems:

   • Build/Buy items not updated
   • Money mod (noextramoneyonpromotion) not updated
   • Story mod (Meaningful Stories) not updated
   • Bills mod (SNB-Bills) not updated

2. Removing mods makes problems:

   • If you remove food recipe mods: delete all food items first
   • If you have milestone CC: check file “developmental_milestone_tracker.py”
   • If you use job mods: make sure they are new version

Part 2: Saving Problems

1. Game Only Saves in DX9 Mode

   • Usually because of old Build/Buy items
   • Please check the Broken/Updated Mods list
   • You can use Sims 4 Studio to fix this

2. Game Crashes When Saving

   • Problem 1: old mods or broken CC
   • Problem 2: too many Sims in one house (more than 8)

Part 3: Crashing Problems

1. CAS (Create-A-Sim) Problems

   • Skeleton earrings by barbieaiden cause problems
   • Too many Sims in one house cause problems

2. Loading Problems

   • Check if mods are old
   • Delete .tmp files in Last Exception folder

3. Other Crash Problems

   • Some hair CC causes problems (like Aladdin Fabio Hair)
   • Computer problems:
     • Graphics settings too high
     • Old drivers
     • Old Mac OS
     • Not enough RAM
     • GShade/Reshade not installed correctly

Important Tips

1. Always make backup files
2. Write down your mod list
3. Test game without mods if you have problems
4. Update mods after game updates
